Troy's Top 100 Movies #50 The Wizard of Oz

#50 The Wizard of Oz. You can not have a list of history's best movies without having The Wizard of Oz. In 1939 MGM released the most commercially and successful adaptation of L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel of the same name. The film which stars Judy Garland tells the story of Dorothy, a young girl from Kansas who after her house is swept up in a tornado she finds herself  in the magical land of Oz,
There isn't many things wrong with this movie, there is a reason it has lasted 75 years. Judy Garland fits the role of Dorothy perfectly, she brings a sense of innocence and wonder to the role that most actresses today can only dream about doing. The film also shines with an iconic supporting cast, from the Scarecrow, Tin Man and The Cowardly Lion to the villainous Wicked Witch of the West that set the stage for all on screen witches after. Every frame is a masterpiece of film making and will be watched and cherished for generations to come.
