I remember seeing this movie in theaters and I remember being so excited that Kirk and Picard were going to be in the same movie together! I was also nine, even as a child my geek status was cemented. This is a passing of the torch between the original Star Trek crew and The Next Generation crew. When Captain Kirk is supposedly killed on a routine mission to save two ships from a spacial anomaly, one of those people that were saved, Dr. Tolian Soran (Malcolm McDowell) is hellbent on finding the anomaly and returning to it. Decades later Captain Picard and his crew find themselves at odds with Soran who has teamed with Klingon rebels to return him to the anomaly. When both Soran and Picard are sucked into the anomaly Picard finds an ally in James T. Kirk who is still alive and has been in a time loop for years. Together the two captains must find a way to stop Soran by any means necessary.
